The class has been working on Open and Closed Hip Twists, so I needed to get out all my cha's and rumba's that had those figures for review and practice. The class is 3 hours long in total, so when planning, I figured on 8 dances per half hour, so 48 dances to program, which is a lot! We certainly don't get through that many as sometimes we dance some twice in a row after review of some figures, skip some or teach some new sequences before new dances. I do try and get something new and different in this class also for some more variety. Because of the figures being worked, I needed to insert other rhythms between all the cha's and rumba's.
So, after all was said and danced, this is what we ended up doing:
6:00-7:30pm Phase 4:
Daydream Foxtrot IV by Knight
Belsize Waltz IV by Huffman
Sugar Sugar IV+2 CHA by Worlock
Breaking Up Jive IV by Croft/de Zordo
Biloxi Lady IV+1 RB by Eddins
Getting To Know You IV FT by Prow
Shadows In The Moonlight IV+1 CHA by Slater
Gardenia Tango IV+1 TG by Parker
Gazpacho Cha IV CHA by Lawson
Dancing at Washington Square IV+1 TS/FT/JV by Robertson
7:30-9:00pm Phase 3 sprinkled with easy 4's, hard 2's and recent teaches:
Cha Cha Fenesi III+2 CHA by Gardner
Any Dream Foxtrot III+1 FT by Pinks
Angel Jive III+2 JV by Wagenhoffer
Just a Little Bit of Mambo III+1 TS/MB by Renauld
In The Misty Moonlight III+1 RB by Skillett
Wonderful Rain III STS by Young
Hernando's Tango III+1 TG by Ackerman
There Goes My Everything IV WZ by Smith
Y Bailo III+1 CHA by Chadd
Roses For Elizabeth II TS by Bliss
Dream Awhile III WZ by Ellis
I Wanta Quickstep III+1 QS by Palmquist
Colours of the Wind III+2 RB by Clements
Smoke Slow Two Step IV+1 STS by Chico
Adios IV+1 WZ by Norman
So, we ended up with 25 out of the 48 dances I programmed and we only did one entire repeat. I always make a plan for a dance class such as this as it's much easier and quicker to pick and choose from a list that meets the evening's criteria. Everyone was tuckered out, we did our friendship circle and thanked everyone for coming and being there. It was a really good session. If you're in the neighbourhood and can do Phase 3's and 4's, you should make a point of coming out to visit Sue and Phil's class. See the Dance Locations tab for details.
